This week I had a bit of a spend up at the shops. I have been so good for ages but this week have seen so much stuff I like I couldn't resist a few bits! They are just simple pieces but I may DIY them a bit to vamp them up.

Topshop - £6

Love those earrings, they are just the right size and sit nicely in my hair. I know that sounds silly but I like to wear earrings almost peeking out of my hair.

Camden Market - £3

This gorgeous bracelet was only £3 on a stall in Camden Market. Im going to add it to my 'never take off' bracelets.

Topshop - £8

I have been wanting a crop top in black for so long. Topshop had loads of crop tops but not in black which was strange. So as soon as I saw this, I grabbed it.

Urban Outfitters - £22

Urban Outfitters is my achilles heel of shops. I try to avoid it because i know i will always see something I like and so my purse always suffers. I popped in to return some shoes and saw a girl walking past holding this top. So I thought there would be no harm in trying it on. It looked amazing on and I love the see-through back. Its a nice slouchy, yet still quite dressy top.

These last items are just some basic tops from Primark. Both cost £4. The blue one I bought because it has a really nice shape and I like the pocket detail.

I will be cutting this up, maybe adding some tassels and wearing it as a beach cover up. I like the fact that it is slightly transparent so my bikini will show slightly beneath.

my weekend in pictures...

So this weekend I went to visit my very good friend Nick. We met in halls at uni and although he left after a month we have kept in contact and I would class him as one of my best friends. We had a lush time, went to london and mooched around Camden Market even though it was packed. Ate yummy chinese food, went shopping some more and walking some more. We then finished off with a visit to Oxford Circus Topshop which is my favourite. I was really restrained and only bought two relatively cheap items, a crop top in black and some wooden cross earrings.

I have recently got a new phone, I am now up to date with technology and downloaded Instagram. Yes I know I am a bit behind. So here is a little instagram story of my weekend. Let me know what you think and if you hate it I won't do it again :)

In Topshop they have the most amazing frozen yoghurt stand... absolutely gorgeous... we had a small topped with strawberries and blueberries. We both said we preferred it to ice-cream.

Dinner Date...

Last night I went out for dinner with my boyfriend and his mum. We went to a gorgeous mexican restaurant in Southampton called La Cantina. They do amazing cocktails and brilliant food. I had a really yummy chimichanga. A chimichanga is basically a deep fried tortilla, this was then stuffed with mexican spicy cheese, potatoes, chorizo, chicken and salsa etc. It was delicious, and I would highly recommend going their to eat.

Here is a sneak peak at what I wore out to dinner. The jeans are new and I love them, they are from Forever 21 and cost £12.95. Absolute bargain. Most cheap jeans stretch and lose their shape after about 5 minutes of wear, but these stayed in shape the whole evening. My favourite aspect of them is mainly the colour, it gives what could be a boring denim outfit a little bit of a kick. I teamed them with my all time favourite T shirt from Topshop - £18 and a boyfriend style blazer which is really old from Primark, I don't remember the exact price but I think it was around £12. Shoe wise, I wore my moccasin pumps.

Styling dipped denim...

Just a short blog to show my first attempt at styling my new DIY dip-dyed denim shirts. I have gone for the doubt denim look. I'm not 100% sure that I like it but its a bit different for me and blogging so far has taught me to try new styles I wouldn't always have tried before. 

Please excuse the state of my new room, I have literally just moved in and it needs a serious paint etc.

I teamed my shirt with navy jeans from Topshop, a brown leather belt and my lovely suede moccasins.

Anyway let me know what you think and other ways I could style this shirt.

inside out...

Just a quick post on an outfit I wore the other day because the sun was shining. My t-shirt was from Primark mens section in small. I haven't decided on what to do with it yet and whether to cut it up and do a bit of DIY. For now I have just turned the sleeves up because the print is really bright on the inside  of the top. I love the print. I have tucked it into my Topshop denim hot pants because otherwise it is really long and i look naked.

Iv pinned my hair into a top bun, Im getting slightly obsessed with the bigger the bun the better which is killing my hair with backcombing.

Magpie!

So Im a bit of a magpie when it comes to prints. At the moment I'm pretty obsessed with tribal prints and really can't get enough of them. Recently i popped into Topshop just for a little browse not intending to buy anything. In my experience these are the most dangerous shopping trips and this one definately lived up to expectations. I picked up these shorts reduced for about £23 because there was a mark on the yellow thread detail at the front. However after a little bit of TLC you would never know.

Although it is June, it is still cold and rainy which means tights and boots. Today I teamed my shorts with a baggy black top also from Topshop, black tights, my green Doc Martens and a matching green leather satchel handmade in Mexico. I kept my jewellery quite simple with a few bracelets I always wear, a few vintage bangles and a vintage charm bracelet, as well as a long vintage necklace with a key pendant which you can't see in the pictures.

I love the colours and patterns on these shorts, it really brightens up the outfit. They also look amazing with a sheer white shirt and brown leather belt.

Handmade leather satchel - Mexico 

Tribal patterns look really good layers. A recent editorial in the June 2012 edition of Harpers Bazaar hows this perfectly by layering swimsuits with tribal print jackets, boots and shawls. I haven't seen much work by the photographer Paola Kudacki before but the feel in these images is really soft and feminine which makes the prints stand out even more. It really gives the pieces the wow factor.

in to the tribe...

I really love all of the tribal prints at the moment. The patterns and colours are really striking and they really draw you in to an outfit. In British Vogue May 2012, Mario Testino shot an amazing editorial which I love. Although based on nomadic prints, fringing and embroideries it feels very tribal.


The images themselves are just stunning, the colours work really well against the dramatic backdrops which are in muted colours so your eyes are always drawn to the model and the clothing. The styling by Lucinda Chambers is incredible. With so much going on within the image it would be easy for the looks to feel overwhelming but they really don't, the model looks like a work of art.

Today I wore a tribal inspired outfit. The shoes are one of my favourite pairs, I had been looking for a pair of moccasins for about a year and found these in River Island in the sale for £15. They were the last pair and they were in my size so it had to be fate. The necklace is from primark and on a leather style cord, I think its quite unusual and sits really nicely. The top is an aztec print from Topshop and the skirt is H'n'M. Overall a bit of a bargain outfit.
